One of the Italian cities in which the Spanish presence was most important during the Modern Age was undoubtedly Bologna, thanks above all to stong attraction exerted by its prestigious and ancient university. At the same time, various Bolognese were called to occupy important places in the cultural panorama of Spain in the seventeenth century. Despite these circumstances, the links between Spain and Bologna in that period have barely been considered by current historiography. The Bolognese Sixth Century and the Spanish Golden Age, the result of the author's doctoral tesis, addresses the artistic and cultural relations that existed between our country and the Italian city in that prolific century, offering for the first time an overview in which the artists and patrons, politicians and religious, travelers and writers.
