"Hippomenes and Atalanta" notebook

On several occasions Reni tackled the depiction of nude male and female bodies, almost always within the framework of stories from classical mythology. In them he combined his observation of nature with the study of ancient statues. His conception of the beauty of the naked body can be seen in a masterly manner in works such as Hippomenes and Atalanta (ca. 1618-19), a detail of which is reproduced on the cover of this practical flexible-bound notebook, where the splendid anatomies of young people are presented in a moment of sensual interaction.
