Classical mythology has fueled all forms of expression in the humanities and fine arts for thousands of years. Myths emerged as a possible explanation of natural phenomena, but also to answer eternal questions about the origin and destiny of our species, an imaginative effort to overcome the limits of rational knowledge of each era. Therefore, it is not surprising that science and technology have often been impregnated with classical mythology, and especially to inspire the nomenclature of inventions and discoveries. 'From the myth to the laboratory' tells us about these mythological characters, whose names and stories captured the attention of the scientific community to the point of honoring them by baptizing many "creatures" born from their research.
