One of the most important exhibitions ever devoted to the work of Raphael and his studio and the first to focus on the final phase in the artist's career when he became the most influential painter in Western Art. Organized in collaboration with the Musée du Louvre, it shows forty paintings and thirty drawings chronologically displayed to cover the last seven years of Raphael's life, from 1513 to 1520.

The catalogue includes introductory texts and three scholarly essays. The first essay is jointly written by the exhibition’s two curators, the art historian Tom Henry and Paul Joannides, Professor of Art History at Cambridge University. The second essay is written by Ana González Mozo, researcher in the Technical Documentation Department of the Museo del Prado and the third one by Bruno Mottin, Élisabeht Ravaud, Gilles Bastian and Myriam Eveno from the Centre de Recherche et de Restauration des Musée de France. In addition, the catalogue includes 50 entries that cover all the works in the exhibition, grouped into coherent sections.

The catalogue includes bibliography and index of names.
