In the work reproduced on the front cover of this practical booklet Academy of Drawing in Night Session, Paris (?) (ca. 1882) is revealed the ability of Emilio Sánchez Perrier, the author, to achieve true pictorial effects on paper, creating monochrome compositions with rich shading, contrasts, multiple tonal gradations and eye-catching highlights. Using a single colour, applying greater or lesser intensity and adjusting the volumes, giving shape to the figures.
